If, instead of a .blogspot.com suffix to your page, you'd like a 'proper' web page, there are a few ways to do this. The first is to pick a name and see if it's available. You can do that at GoDaddy.com or at NameCheap.com Depending on the name, the hosting plan and the duration, it can cost you up to US$50 per month. You're obviously not going to get any big names that are already taken, like Microsoft.com.
An alternative is a free web hosting service, like the one this page was designed on, and is now hosted. It's called Weebly.com and I think it's really, really good. The dashboard is easy to use. the templates are sharp and modern, and it's very quick to learn.
You can also interweave a .blogspot.com site into a Weebly site, like I did on the BLOGS page here. Some functions are better done on a blog, others on a web page. Your choice entirely.
You can create a personal page using Weebly, and here are some very interesting ideas for that. Mine is http://declanryan.co and is still a work in progress.
You can also register your own unique site address, and hosting through Weebly. I'd recommend that for newcomers, as their service is impeccable, and their rates are reasonable.
There is a free online course on web-design I'd recommend, here. Well worth the time and effort to do this.
I hope by now I've piqued your interest?
